Woman dies when car runs stop sign

On Behalf of | Jun 15, 2018 | Car Accidents

A woman who was visiting Iowa passed away in a car accident on a Sunday morning when another driver allegedly ran a stop sign and hit the vehicle in which she was riding.

Per the Iowa State Patrol, a man in a GMC pickup truck was driving down 280th Street, heading east. He came to the intersection where 280th crosses Highway 169, which has a stop sign. However, he did not stop at the sign and simply drove through the intersection.

At that same moment, a Chevy Malibu was coming down Highway 169, heading south. A man from Nevada was behind the wheel, with a woman riding in the passenger seat. The two vehicles collided right around midnight, and the woman was killed. She was 26 years old at the time.

The driver of the Malibu was 27 years old. The man driving the pickup that allegedly ran the stop sign was 24 years old.

As of the latest reports, the police have not yet filed any charges, but they are still carrying out their investigation. It is worth noting that the Iowa State Patrol claims the woman who died did not have her seat belt on at the moment of the crash.

Night driving carries a high level of risk, especially on the weekends, no matter where you live. All it takes is one simple mistake for two vehicles to collide and change multiple people’s lives forever. It is very important for those who suffer injuries or those who lose loved ones in these accidents to know all of the legal rights that they have.
